Mr. Yves Bugmann, President of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH, will visit Japan for the first time since his appointment as FH President in January 2024. He will deliver a speech titled “The Swiss Watch Industry and the FH” at a luncheon hosted by the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCIJ) on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
The Swiss watchmaking industry is synonymous with quality, centuries-old tradition combined with continuous innovation, and unique expertise in watchmaking. The presentation provides an overview of the structure of the industry and its importance for the Swiss economy. It places a special focus on the activities of the Federation of the Swiss watch industry FH in the areas of combating counterfeiting and defending the Swiss-made label. The geographical indication “Swiss Made” is protected by specific legislation, which is considered one of the strictest in the world. The FH actively combats the misuse of the label worldwide, thus ensuring the credibility of the label.
The presentation also provides an overview of FH’s involvement with other activities such as its commitment to barrier-free market access and ideal framework conditions, the publication of detailed export statistics, and its activities in the field of standardization.
