News To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Pilot’s Watch, “The Next Space Age Exhibition (NSA Exhibition)” will be held for seven days starting Friday, July 17, 2026.
Having established a formidable reputation in the field of pilot's watches, IWC Schaffhausen developed highly precise instrument watches to meet the exacting demands of the pioneering aviators who ventured into the skies during the early days of aviation. The brand later introduced the Big Pilot's Watch, featuring a distinctive dial design inspired by cockpit instruments. It has since become one of IWC's most iconic and recognizable designs.
This year, marking the 90th anniversary of the Pilot’s Watch collection, IWC will present “The Next Space Age Exhibition (NSA Exhibition),” an immersive showcase that traces the brand’s remarkable journey—from its role in the dawn of aviation and its contribution to the history of flight, to its involvement in space exploration through the civilian-crewed Inspiration4 and Polaris Dawn human spaceflight missions. The exhibition also offers visitors an opportunity to experience the engineering DNA that defines IWC. It will be held for seven days, beginning on Friday, July 17, at Hills Café in Roppongi, Tokyo.
At the exhibition, IWC will showcase the new Pilot’s Watch Venturer Vertical Drive, a purpose-built tool watch created for crewed spaceflight and timekeeping in space. Developed in partnership with Vast, the space habitation company for which IWC serves as Official Timekeeper, the watch was designed and engineered entirely from the ground up to withstand the extreme conditions and rigorous demands of human space missions.The timepiece features an innovative patent-pending rotating bezel system that enables all functions to be operated without a crown. It has also met all testing requirements for use in the Haven-1 spaceflight environment and by its crew, and has received official flight certification from Vast for use in space missions.
Also on display are a wide range of new timepieces, including the five Pilot’s Watch “Le Petit Prince” Anniversary Editions, unveiled to commemorate 20 years of collaboration with the descendants of The Little Prince author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry; the Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar IWC-ProSet®, which redefines the perpetual calendar with five patented innovations; and the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Ceratanium®, crafted from a blend of ceramic powder and Super-LumiNova®, allowing the entire watch to glow in the dark.
