Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH (Hereafter, “FH”) holds the panel exhibition, “Imagine Switzerland” – The relationships between Japan and Switzerland established by Swiss Watches, at the “Swiss Fair” which is held to commemorate the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries, from March 22 to April 9 at Tobu Department Store, Ikebukuro in Tokyo. The Panel exhibition traces the footsteps of Minister Plenipotentiary Aime Humbert-Droz (President of the Swiss Watchmakers Association) and the Swiss delegation, which laid the foundations for friendly relations between Japan and Switzerland 160 years ago and introduces the state of watches and clocks in Japan at that time. For not only watch fans but also those who are interested in history, this exhibition is an opportunity to see and to learn about the the connections between Japan and Switzerland 160 years ago, with “watches” at the heart of the exhibition.
In addition, the Tobu Department Store, Ikebukuro holds “Swiss Fair”to promote Swiss throughout the store with the cooperation of the Switzerland Tourism, including “Heidi, a girl of the Alps” exhibition on the 8th floor to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the television broadcast, and a Swiss market* selling Swiss wine, Swiss cheese, and other products. In the watch floor on 6F (No.7 to No.10), the Switzerland Tourism exhibits panels and showing a video about the Swiss Watch Industry. To celebrate the 160 years of friendship between Japan and Switzerland, let’s enjoy the fascinating world of Swiss watches, Swiss tourism, Swiss products and more.
