Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH will hold a panel exhibition “Imagine Switzerland” to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Switzerland from July 30 to August 11, 2024 at the JR Nagoya Takashimaya Watch Maison in Nagoya. On February 6, the 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Switzerland, Panels produced by Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH will trace the footsteps of Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Emme Humbert (then President of the Federation of Swiss Watch Manufacturers) and the Swiss delegation that laid the foundation for friendly relations between the two countries, and introduce the state of Japanese watchmaking at that time through panels. Along with the panel exhibition, the original copy of “Le Japon Illustré” (published in 1870), one of Emme Humbert's greatest achievements, will be specially displayed at the exhibition.
In addition, a “Milestone Panel” will be on display, which will chronicle the development of Swiss watchmaking technology over more than 400 years of tradition and history, as well as a selection of related iconic models. On August 3, 10, and 11*, staff from FH Tokyo will be on hand to explain the 160th anniversary commemorative panels and lead visitors on a Swiss watch tour, giving them an opportunity to experience the world of Swiss watchmaking. It is not only watch-fans but also those interested in history will take advantage of this opportunity to view a valuable collection of watches to learn about the connection between Japan and Switzerland 160 years ago and the world of Swiss watchmaking.
