Mr. Taisuke Someya, watchmaker of the Oumi Watch and Clock School selected as a 'Contemporary Master Craftsman'

  The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) annually awards craftsmen and technicians with outstanding skills in manufacturing as Contemporary Master Craftsmen, and in 2023, Mr. Taisuke Someya (38) , watchmaker of the Oumi Watch, Eyewear & Jewellery College attached to Oumi Jingu was selected as one of them from Shiga Prefecture.   
  Mr Someya studied watch repair at the college and has been teaching at the school since his graduation. In 2014, he was accredited by the Japan Watchmakers' Association (CMW), the predecessor of the Japanese branch of the American Institute of Horology, which has the highest standards in the world for watch repair.   
  On receiving the award, Mr Someya commented on SNS, "I will continue to make efforts to develop the prefecture's industrial human resources and improve their skills". Mr Someya and everyone at the the Oumi Watch, Eyewear & Jewellery College have been cooperating with the Swiss Watch Association's WATCH.SWISS event by providing watch disassembly experience. We would like to congratulate them and wish them continued success and development.
