Now in its ninth edition, this year’s event welcomed a record attendance of approximately 80 participants from across and beyond the watch industry, including Swiss watch manufacturers, importers, Watch retailers, Swiss-affiliated organizations, and media representatives.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Professor Pierre-Yves Donzé of the Graduate School of Economics at Osaka University, who spoke on the theme “The Transformation of the Swiss Watch Industry into the Luxury Business After 1980.”

Marking the 61st year—“60 years plus one”—since the establishment of the Swiss Watch Federation FH Tokyo Office in 1964, this year’s seminar offered a timely opportunity to revisit the historical background of the Swiss watch industry and its global management perspective. Professor Donzé explained, with valuable archival materials and concrete examples, how the Swiss watch industry has repeatedly overcome challenges, developed its own unique business model, and ultimately evolved into today’s global luxury business.

In the post-lecture Q&A session, FH Tokyo Representative Ayako Nakano moderated questions submitted in advance, and Professor Donzé provided expert insights and thoughtful analysis in response.

At the reception held after the seminar, participants enjoyed meaningful conversations and deepened their connections while gathering around Professor Donzé.

We hope that this FH Seminar served as an opportunity for each participant to imagine the future of the watch industry from their respective standpoints and to find renewed inspiration in sharing the appeal of Swiss watches with a wider audience.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who attended.
