Parmigiani Fleurier
“La Ravenale”
Every year on December 2nd, the birthday of its founder, Parmigiani Fleurier unveils an “Objet d’Art” that embodies the essence of the Maison's creativity. In 2025, celebrating its 75th anniversary, the brand presented the La Ravenale repeater pocket watch, a piece that resonates with the origins of its restoration work and contemporary sensibilities.
At the heart of this piece is a minute repeater caliber crafted by the renowned Geneva master watchmaker Edouard Cowen in the 1920s. Completely restored by the Maison's restoration atelier, it chimes the hours, quarter hours, and minutes with a clear tone using two gongs.
The design was inspired by the Traveller’s Palm of Madagascar. The geometry of its fan-shaped leaves, reminiscent of the golden ratio, is expressed in the hand-engraved decoration on the movement bridges, linking the mechanical structure with the order of the natural world. The case back features a marquetry of opal and jade, poetically depicting the contrast between sparkle and silence, the sky and the earth. The essence of this piece lies not only in its visual perfection, but also in its ability to convey time through sound. The large interior space created by the Lepine structure enhances resonance, restoring the restored minute repeater to its original acoustic qualities.
